Project Overview

This comprehensive home adaptation project focused on creating an independent living space for the client, involving the modification of a bedroom and the creation of a new bathroom, with an external ramp installation for enhanced access.

Challenge

The existing layout and facilities were no longer suitable for the accessibility needs of the client, particularly in the bedroom and bathroom areas. The Aquadapt team were tasked with planning and undertaking significant modifications to the living space to provide enhanced accessibility and independence.

Solution

Bedroom Modifications

We created a new bathroom area separate from the bedroom by building a stud wall, with pocket sliding doors to provide easy access and save space.

The original tiered flooring and carpet was removed to create a level surface, and a contemporary wood-effect laminate floor installed throughout.

After installing the Integralift cabinets to house the hoist system, the bedroom was completely redecorated, with new skirting boards throughout.

Bathroom Adaptations

A range of specialist bathroom equipment was installed including a Geberit wash/dry toilet set at custom height.

A large “former” tray was integrated under the new flooring to provide the shower area, and a Mira thermostatic shower with a sliding rail for seated or standing use was installed, along with convenient dispensers and a fold-away shower curtain.

A state-of-the-art Baleno body dryer was fitted adjacent to the shower area, for an effective drying solution that combines practicality with ornamental effect.

A Matrix electric up/down basin with thermostatic mono tap, vanity unit, heated towel rail, waterproof downlighters and a new extractor fan completed the collection of accessories to facilitate safety, comfort, and practicality.

Altro Pisces anti-slip vinyl flooring, with heat sealed edges and corners, was then laid to provide transverse stability, with Nuance tongue and groove composite boarding, supplied and fitted with a 15-year warranty.
